Nicole is our Dog First Aid Franchise Partner for Sussex.
As a child, Nicole would help look after the explosive and drug sniffer dogs that her dad would bring home to train, and assisting a spaniel give birth to a healthy litter of puppies is what directed her career goals toward the veterinary industry.
Whilst still at school, she worked evenings at a local small animal veterinary practice as a kennel assistant, before joining as a full time trainee nurse in 2008. After passing her exams and registering as a qualified veterinary nurse in 2010, her passion for emergency and critical care started to blossom. She enjoyed working night shifts alone looking after hospitalised patients as this gave her the opportunity to nurse many interesting cases. During her time at a small animal first opinion practice, Nicole was the first on the scene to triage and administer emergency first aid to many dogs for reasons ranging from broken limbs to cardiac arrest.
For many years Nicole ran puppy socialisation and training classes in partnership with local behaviourists, as well as carrying out behavioural clinics as this was an area of special interest. On a regular basis she would host first aid educational talks for owners which were always very well received.
In January 2018 Nicole became a franchise partner for the Sussex area, and is very much looking forward to meeting like minded dog lovers through Dog First Aid.
“Having the ability to educate dog owners and professionals on how to save a dog’s life means that I have the best job in the world!” – Nicole Russell RVN.
