Chris Mattin is our Dog First Aid Franchise Partner for the Kent area.
Chris is an experienced trainer who has undergone our extensive training programme, including training with registered members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. He is passionate about educating dog professionals, and owners in Dog First Aid to promote the safety and wellbeing of their pets. Firmly believing that dogs are part of the family. Coming from a military background and also having worked as a Special Constable within the police, Chris has seen life threatening emergency situations first hand.
Chris and his fiancé Lorna are owned by rescue dog Cody, who has had her fair share of situations requiring first aid. This led Chris to start his journey in to becoming a Dog First Aid trainer. Chris now owns Vita Pets – a Sidcup based pet shop which incorporates a dog grooming salon. There have been a number of situations regarding first aid within the salon, including dogs with foreign bodies such as ticks and grass seeds, elderly dogs fitting and cuts etc. This has further impacted Chris’s passion that all those working with dogs should as a minimum have current dog first aid knowledge.
Chris says, “I walk Cody every morning in a local park where there is a cross that marks the point where a 2 year old Rottweiler choked to death. The owners didn’t know what to do. Teaching people these skills is lifesaving.”
